The Dallas Cowboys held their first practice of training camp on Wednesday and as they did we can now start to draw legitimate conclusions about the team.
To be clear, doing so is hardly a good idea. We are talking about a single training camp practice at this point in time, but the point is that we now have legitimate data to base some things off of. At the very least we can start to talk about things in a verifiable way.
One of those things is the state of the RB2 role. We haven’t really known who
is going to work there when the Cowboys are giving Javonte Williams a breather, but Wednesday offered some evidence that it could be someone other than who many expect in Jaydon Blue, his fellow draftee from last year in Phil Mafah.
For what it’s worth, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses.
Again, nobody is suggesting that anybody jump to any conclusions. But Phil Mafah getting the nod is interesting.
Malik Davis is also a name to factor in to all Blue and Mafah discussions as he commanded the most work last year as far as non-Williams options are concerned. Is second-year RB Mafah the player who will get those chances in 2026?
