The Dallas Mavericks (22-45) are back out on the road Sunday for a weird afternoon game against the same team they played on Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers (41-26). These two teams played on Friday and the Cavs looked like world beaters as they simply destroyed Dallas from the first quarter on. Let’s see if Dallas has any pride and shows up today.
Here are the main things you need to know:
- WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Cleveland Cavaliers
- WHAT: Back out on the road
- WHERE: Rocket Arena, Cleveland, Ohio
- WHEN: 2:30 pm CST
- HOW: AKFAA Channel 29, MavsTV streaming, NBA League Pass
For the Mavericks, Klay Thompson is doubtful with rest and the two way guys are not going to play. But everyone
else you’d think could play, should and will. PJ Washington is probable as is Caleb Martin. Daniel Gafford isn’t on the injury report.

Cleveland’s report is better than Friday Jarrett Allen has a knee injury and will miss this game too. Keon Ellis and James Harden are each available despite broken fingers. Sam Merrill, Tyrese Proctor, and Craig Porter Jr. will miss this. Max Strus is likely to play, which is a big deal for the Cavs. Jaylon Tyson is listed as questionable with an ankle injury.
Beating a team two straigh games in the regular season is harder than one might think. However, the Cavaliers are just the sort of team built to pummel less talented opponents. And if Klay Thompson is out, that means the Mavericks just don’t have enough shooting to keep up. But hopefully the effort will be there.

Consider joining Josh and me on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start LATE. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
