Cowboys’ Jerry Jones says paying coaches has never been an issue – Todd Archer, ESPN
Jerry Jones got ridiculed after he mentioned that there was no connection
between the highest-paid coaches to winning championships. Now, he’s saying spend top dollar for a coach hasn’t been a problem in Dallas.
“The facts are I have been out there, and I have been trying to lure very successful coaches away from the teams they were on and knew full well that I was going to pay them for their success,” he said. “So that has been done. No one knows that, but I do. And so it is absolutely ridiculous. And I actually grin when somebody says, ‘Jerry’s not willing to pay the money for what it would take to get the right kind of coach out there.'”

Wide receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin (ribs) and rookie outside linebacker Malachi Lawrence (ankle) did not practice this week and have been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
Which position group could Cowboys add to at trade deadline? Stephen Jones answers – SportsDay Staff, Dallas Morning News
The NFL deadline is next Tuesday, and the Cowboys have been talked about as a team that could make a move. The specific position that they could make a play for was revealed.
Q: Which position or positions do you think could help the team the most right now?
Jones: “Yeah I think it’s one everybody talks [about], obviously a pressure player could help us. After that, we took care of business earlier in the year with [Joey Porter Jr.]. It’s unfortunate he’s been missing some time. No excuses, because everybody has injuries, but no question it hurt us not having him or Caleb [Downs] in the game there in that quarter as well.”

Here We Goooo: Cowboys defense must turn pressure into turnovers vs. Colts -Tommy Yarrish, DallasCowboys.com
Dallas is starting to pick up defensively when it comes to getting to the quarterback. However, taking the ball away needs to improve more also.
Pressure is nice, but it doesn’t mean anything if the defense not affecting the quarterback. Bringing quarterbacks down more recently has helped, but Dallas needs to be able to throw Colts QB Daniel Jones off his game with their pressure on Sunday, as it’s affected him throughout the season. Quinnen Williams has been the best defender in terms of getting into the backfield and affecting the quarterback this season, so expect him to be let loose again in this game.
Cowboys disconnect grows as CeeDee Lamb unloads on underachieving offense – Jerry Trotta, The Landry Hat
The Cowboys look pedestrian offensively in situational football last week against the Cardinals. It’s caused tensions to boil over.
Lamb is a veteran. He may wear his emotions on his sleeve on the field, but he’s not the type to publicly throw his head coach under the bus. What good would that accomplish?
That leaves us to speculate about the root of his frustration. His comments could just as easily be interpreted as criticism of the players’ execution, but it’s hard to imagine Schottenheimer’s conservative play-calling and predictable offense aren’t at least part of the equation.
