Ronda Rousey is throwing hands.
The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion is back inside the practice cage training for her featherweight return to MMA, a Netflix headliner opposite former Strikeforce attraction Gina Carano. While her previous trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, is not there to sell her dreams of an Olympic gold medal, it’s worth mentioning that “Rowdy” once made the cover of Ring Magazine.
She was also outclassed on the feet by Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
“I
think it’s great,” former UFC and WWE attraction CM Punk told talkSPORT. “We’re going to find out if she’s still got it. I think fighting at an older age — trust me, I am an expert on this. It’s not the easiest thing to do. But she’s fighting somebody who is age comparable, who also has had a long layoff, both big names, both big superstars. I think people are going to tune in to watch this, and I know I will.”
Rousey, now 39, has not competed since losing to Nunes in late 2016.
Rousey vs. Carano takes place on May 16 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
