A third stint with the New England Patriots is ahead for Sebastian Gutierrez.
The organization officially re-signed the offensive tackle to the practice squad on Thursday and released cornerback Miles Battle
in a corresponding move.
Gutierrez, 27, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Minot State in 2022. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound bookend spent his rookie training camp with the Denver Broncos. A week on the practice squad in Foxborough followed that fall. Subsequent stops were made with the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts before returning at the end of September.
Remaining among the 16-man group until a series of moves arrived last month, Gutierrez’s time in the league includes two appearances as a standard elevation as well as multiple return tours.
Battle, 25, began the regular season on the Patriots’ practice squad and earned a promotion to the 53-man roster in November. The 6-foot-3, 197-pound corner was retained on New Year’s Day after being waived to make room for reinforcements from injured reserve. Through five appearances in 2025, with the first coming as an elevation, he totaled three tackles while seeing 29 snaps on defense and 53 snaps on special teams.
Originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024, Battle spent the majority of his rookie campaign on the practice squad at Gillette Stadium. The former transfer from Ole Miss to Utah made his NFL debut during last year’s finale as part of the active roster.
The AFC’s No. 2 seed hosts the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild card on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
