The days before the Las Vegas Raiders fired Pete Carroll, there were multiple reports that stated part owner Tom Brady, who is running the coaching search, may target Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
The reports stated that Brady and Flores had a good relationship dating back to their successful days in New England together. The reports went even far to state Brady would want Flores to bring fellow Patriots’ alumni Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator.
The reports made Flores
the betting favorite to replace Carroll immediatelt in the process and then … nothing. We’re five days into the process and the Raiders have reportedly have asked to or have completed a first-round interviews with five candidates.
All of the candidates are either on teams with a first-round playoff bye or their season is over per NFL interviewing rules. Flores’ season in Minnesota is over, yet nothing has been reported with the Raiders. He does reportedly have an interview with the Baltimore Ravens next week.
His contract as the Vikings’ defensive coordinator runs out next week and he could be waiting for an interview until then.
But, one would think if He is going to be a candidate with the Raiders, there would have been some movemeent.
Coaches from the six teams eliminated this weekend will become available Monday. Expect more names to surface for the Raiders in their search.
Time will tell if Flores will actually be one of them.
