The main event for Survivor Series: WarGames is officially set, and new advertising for the show favors a particular star.
On X, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque revealed the teams and unveiled a new
event poster.
“The teams have been set. The biggest WarGames match in WWE history is official,” Levesque wrote.
The match will feature CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and the Usos facing Brock Lesnar, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul. Arguably, this is the biggest match in Survivor Series history since the inaugural event, which was headlined by Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant.
However, the new poster clearly favors Cody Rhodes, Levesque’s corporate champion. While Lesnar appears front and center for his team, Rhodes occupies the same position on his team — despite Punk leading the charge against the heels and calling for William Regal to issue the WarGames challenge.
On Monday’s Raw, Punk stood in the center of the ring as Lesnar revealed himself as the fifth man for his team. The two momentarily squared off before Lesnar suplexed Punk out of the ring. Lesnar would then do the same to Rhodes, who was ultimately saved by a highlight-reel Superman punch from Roman Reigns.
Punk’s role as his team’s captain was seemingly reinforced after this week’s Raw ended. As he stood in the ring with Reigns, he issued a warning to the Tribal Chief.
“If you’re gonna do this and try to stab me in the back, then you’re gonna have an enemy,” Punk said. Reigns responded, saying he doesn’t stab people in the back.
“I’ll look you in the eyes and put that knife in your heart,” Reigns replied.
Regardless of who is seen as the team captain, this match promises fireworks. With betrayal as a theme this fall, excitement is high as ten of wrestling’s biggest stars will be locked in a two-ring cage.
