Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Husky coaches hosted another impressive group of visitors this weekend with 6 un-committed prospects on campus this weekend to go along with 8 committed prospects. Here is a look at who is on campus this weekend.
The headliner on campus this weekend was 4 star wide receiver Osani Gayles from IMG Academy, FL. Gayles, who is rated as the 7th best wide receiver in the country by 247sports, has a top 5 of Alabama, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee, and UW. The Huskies just landed
another 4 star wide receiver and have 4 wideout commits in the class but are all-in on trying to land the talented 4 star wide receiver. Listed at 5’11” and around 185 pounds, Gayles is a prototypical slot receiver and it sounds like it’s a Notre Dame, Alabama, and UW battle right now with a commitment coming on June 27th (with Notre Dame getting the last visit). Gayles is originally from the west coast and the Huskies are hoping they can bring him back to the west coast. Last season he had 20 catches for 492 yards and 5 touchdowns (in a run heavy offense).
Another 4 star prospect from IMG Academy was in town this weekend. 4 star defensive back Censere Gaylord joined Gayles on campus this weekend for an official visit to Montlake. Gaylord, who is rated as the 13th best cornerback in the country by 247sports, has a top 4 of Auburn, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and UW. Originally also from the west coast Gaylord is an instinctive cornerback who also shows an ability to be physical on the outside (he’s listed at 6’0” and around 160 pounds). The Huskies would love to add a defensive back like Gaylord but it will be a tough battle with the other schools in his top 4.
The Huskies also brought in 4 star safety Jaden Walk-Green from Corona Centennial HS, CA. Walk-Green who is rated as the 51st best safety by 247sports, but 35th best in the composite ranking. Listed at 5’11” and around 180 pounds, Walk-Green is a ballhawk who had 10 interceptions and 125 tackles this last year. The Huskies are battling ASU, KSU, UCLA, and Vanderbilt. The Huskies are the favorite currently for Walk-Green who has set his announcement for the 20th of June but ASU and Vanderbilt still are set to get an official visit.
3 star teammates Caden Jones, and Evan Mack from Crean Lutheran also made their way up to Montlake this weekend. Jones, who is rated as the 36th best QB in the country by 247sports, is an intriguing player who is a dual sport athlete. The Huskies already hold a commitment from 4 star QB Blake Roskopf but are pursuing Jones as a potential 2nd QB in the class. It sounds like Arizona may have the inside track to land Jones currently but the Huskies are trying to their best to reel him in (last season he had over 3,000 yards passing and 30 touchdowns to go with 1 INT). Mack, who is rated as the 46th best cornerback in the country by 247sports, is a longer cornerback that the Huskies covet outside (he’s listed at 6’3” and around 175 pounds). Last season he had 49 tackles 2 INT’s and 10 PD’s). The Huskies are battling ASU, AZ, and Kansas currently in their efforts to land Mack.
The last un-committed prospect on campus this weekend was 3 star defensive lineman Josh Christensen from Lake Oswego HS, OR. Christensen, who is rated as the 124th best edge in the country by 247sports, has seen his stock rise a ton over the last several months. Oklahoma and Oregon have both offered and are pushing to land the 6’6” 250 pound prospect. It will be interesting to see where Christensen ends up at but if Oregon pushes hard it could be really tough to reel him in.
From the committed ranks the Huskies had 4 star wideout Braylon Pope, 4 star defensive lineman Jon Ioane. They also had 3 star teammates, safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava, and linebackers Ethan and Justin Coach. Also in town from California were 3 star linebacker Isaiah Leilua, and 3 star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei. The Huskies also had local 3 star tight end Zach Albright on campus.
The Huskies will also have a 4 star defensive lineman on campus starting tomorrow from SEC territory. Sam LeJeune from Poplarville HS, MS is heading to Montlake for a mid-week visit. Rated as the 12th best defensive lineman in the country, LeJeune has visited Auburn and Cal, and also has a visit to Florida State upcoming. Listed at around 6’3” and around 280 pounds, LeJeune is an impressive defensive lineman who had 7 sacks and 22 TFL’s last year. The Huskies offered LeJeuene recently and it’s impressive for them to get an official visit from the talented defensive lineman.
That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp for any breaking news.
