Apparently the NFL naming Myles Price the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 3 just wasn’t enough to emphasize how good he’s been so far this year, so the league took it a step further on Thursday.
The NFL has named Price the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month for the month of September for what he’s done over the first three weeks of the season so far.
We went through Price’s accomplishments in the story we ran yesterday about his weekly award, but let’s go ahead and do them again
here anyway because. . .well, he deserves it.
In addition to being the only player in the league to return a punt for a touchdown so far this season, Price leads the National Football League in punt return yardage (130), punt return average (21.7 yards), kickoff return yardage (353), and all-purpose yardage (483).
Price is now the eighth member of the Vikings to be named Special Teams Player of the Month and, technically, gives the Minnesota Vikings the award in back-to-back months. Will Reichard won the award for December 2025/January 2026.
Here is a full list of Vikings Special Teams Player of the Month recipients:
- Fuad Reveiz (December 1994)
- Mitch Berger (November 1998)
- Mitch Berger (September 1999)
- Mitch Berger (September 2000)
- Chris Kluwe (September 2005)
- Percy Harvin (September 2012)
- Blair Walsh (December 2012)
- Cordarrelle Patterson (September 2013)
- Will Reichard (December 2025/January 2026)
- Myles Price (September 2026)
So, to clarify, it’s ten different awards for eight different players, given that Berger won the award three different times.
Congratulations to Myles Price on being named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month for September!
