The Michigan Wolverines took down the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners
, 17-10, at Michigan Stadium on Saturday afternoon thanks to impressive performances by a handful of players, including edge rusher John Henry Daley and quarterback Bryce Underwood.Here are five players that stood out above the rest and deserve a game ball following a win over Oklahoma.
John Henry Daley
Daley was spectacular in his second game at Michigan. The Utah transfer was in the backfield all game long and finished with eight tackles, three tackles for
loss and one sack. In the first half alone, Daley had six tackles and one sack to help the Wolverines build a 10-0 lead. Simply put, Michigan doesn’t get this win without Daley’s monstrous play.
Jyaire Hill
Hill made a bone-headed play by committing a personal foul with Oklahoma backed up to its own goal line on third down. It felt like a catastrophic penalty at the time, but the senior cornerback more than made up for it by snagging a game-changing interception in the fourth quarter. The Wolverines scored a go-ahead touchdown two plays later and never relinquished the lead.
Chris Bracy
Bracy played very well in his Michigan debut last week, and he continued to make a significant impact against the Sooners. The Memphis transfer came up clutch by forcing a fumble to halt a promising Oklahoma drive. Additionally, he is one of the best tacklers and hardest hitters on the defense, and that was apparent as he came up with six tackles in the win.
Bryce Underwood
Underwood bounced back from a disastrous season opener with a solid showing in the win over the Sooners. He played much more poised than a week ago by posting 198 total yards, highlighted by a 38-yard rushing touchdown in the first half. It wasn’t a dominant showing, but he played to his strengths and didn’t make any pivotal mistakes.
Cam Brown
Brown couldn’t have been much better, landing a pair of perfectly-placed punts inside the one yard line that made life difficult for Oklahoma. The Michigan punter landed 6-of-7 punts inside the 20 and averaged 42.3 yards per punt, including a 51-yard boot. He doesn’t play the most heralded position, but Brown’s performance was instrumental in the victory.
