The Milwaukee Brewers have been trending up for some time. They’ve made the playoffs eight of the last nine years. They’ve had 90 plus wins for the last four seasons. They lose pieces, but gain others. They’ve third in position player WAR and fourth in pitching WAR. And they’re in the driver’s seat to win this year’s World Championship.
Then you have the Dodgers and their pocketbook out west. Los Angeles isn’t going anywhere. Yes, neither the Dodgers or the Brewers are in the division with the Braves.
But I’m sure what happens to divisions in a few years, anyway. Speaking of the division, the Phillies are on the downswing now, but they’re hardly in the rear view.
The Braves have a lot of questions to answer this offseason. What kind of offensive approach do they want? Can they keep their pitchers healthy? Are they selecting athletes that can stay healthy? And then assuming they resolve these, there are two teams ready to test what the Braves came up with. So are the Brewers a major problem for the Braves? I wouldn’t mind if they won it all this year, but I’ll be watching closely next season.
