I disagree with those who are comparing this Philadelphia Eagles game against the Las Vegas Raiders to the one the Birds played against the Arizona Cardinals late during the 2023 season.
As a quick reminder,
the Eagles were big home favorites against Jonathan Gannon that day despite not playing well down the stretch. Despite this, they suffered a very embarrassing loss.
To me, the closer 2023 comp for this game is the New York Giants game on Christmas. The Eagles beat an inferior opponent that day but no one really felt great about it afterwards. DeVonta Smith literally said he was “not happy” after that game and it wasn’t an isolated sentiment by him.
I feel very confident that the Eagles are going to beat the Raiders, who have often looked listless this season. I’ve watched Kenny Pickett struggle too much to feel like he’s going to have success against a trustworthy Eagles defense. Philly’s defensive line should be able to get after a very leaky Vegas pass protection unit.
The Eagles’ offense, however? It’s hard to trust them at all. Even more so in cold/windy/wet conditions. The idea that they turned a corner in their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers is too much to bank on at this point in time. They still have a lot to prove before they earn the benefit of the doubt.
Eagles win and no one feels all that amazing about it is my prediction.
