The Premier League is back! And it returns with a bang as Liverpool host Manchester United in a fierce rivalry clash at Anfield.
Arsenal currently lead the table by a narrow margin, with just three points separating them from fifth-placed Manchester City—showing how tight the title race remains.
FPL managers can finally get back in on the action, with the gameweek eight returning this weekend — and here are our fantasy Premier League player picks for GW8.
Goalkeeper
Roefs (£4.6m, Sunderland vs Wolves)
Sunderland have been impressive this season,
particularly at home. Meanwhile, Wolves remain winless and are the lowest-scoring team in the league. That makes Roefs a sensible and potentially rewarding choice for this gameweek.
Pope (£5.1m, Brighton vs Newcastle)
It’s the same pick as last gameweek — and once again, another clean sheet in GW7. Interestingly, Newcastle have maintained a unique trend this season: every time they’ve earned points, it’s been accompanied by a clean sheet.
Defender
Tripper (£5.0m, Brighton vs Newcastle)
With Livramento sidelined, Trippier is set to start against Brighton this weekend. Although no longer the first-choice right-back this season, he still ranks as Newcastle’s third-highest scoring defender. Having skipped international duty last week, Trippier has enjoyed full preparation ahead of this fixture.
Diouf (£4.4m, West Ham vs Brentford)
New manager Nuno Espírito Santo will take charge at home as West Ham hosts Brentford. Reports suggest he’s preparing to introduce a new system that emphasizes defensive stability — making Diouf, the team’s top points scorer for defenders, a player worth considering this gameweek.
Truffert (£4.5m, Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth)
Truffert has been on my watchlist for a while, and it’s safe to say he’s made an impressive impact since joining the team. His arrival has helped reshape and strengthen the entire defensive line.
Midfielder
Salah (£14.4m, Liverpool vs Man Utd)
Manchester United have long been one of Salah’s favourite opponents, as he always seems to rise to the occasion in these high-profile clashes. Lammens showed promise in his debut, but given United’s current defensive struggles, stopping Salah could prove to be a tough task.
Saka (£9.9m, Fulham vs Arsenal)
Saka returned to the lineup last gameweek and marked his comeback with a goal. With Madueke still sidelined, he’s set to play a key role once again in the London Derby this weekend.
Okafor (£5.5m, Burnley vs Leeds)
Burnley have conceded seven goals in their last two matches, and in-form Okafor — with two goals in his previous three games — will have a great opportunity to extend his scoring run this gameweek.
Forwards
Woltemade (£7.2m, Brighton vs Newcastle)
Woltemade has quickly made fans forget about Isak, scoring three goals in just four appearances. His composure in front of goal and intelligent off-ball movement show he’s far more than just a tall target man — he’s a complete forward in form.
Pedro (£7.7m, Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea)
Nottingham Forest have yet to keep a clean sheet this season, giving Pedro a strong opportunity to get on the scoresheet in this matchup.
