Pau Cubarsi has sent out a message to fans after being sent off for Barcelona against Atletico in the Champions League at Camp Nou.
Cubarsi’s red card helped turn the game in Atletico’s favour, with Julian Alvarez going on to score the opener from the resulting free kick.
Cubarsi says he takes responsibility for his red card but hasn’t given up hope of Barca staging a comeback in the return leg
“One action determines the match and affects the outcome. That’s how football is, and I take responsibility
for what happened,” he posted on Instagram.
“There’s still a road ahead for us to travel; we are more united than ever: we are a family, and we’ve always proven that.
“Forward, with effort and determination, and we will never lower our arms.”
Barcelona went on to lose 2-0, meaning they will have to mount another comeback if they are to progress to the semi-finals. Cubarsi will miss the return fixture due to suspension.
