BARCELOS, Portugal — Former Iowa Stater Sydney Harris is heading to Portugal to launch her professional career, having signed with Basquete Clube de Barcelos for her rookie season, Flash Agency announced on Friday.
Harris is expected to bring her elite shooting and perimeter size to the Portuguese side.
The 6-foot rookie joins BC Barcelos on the heels of a dominant showing at the Eurobasket Summer League in Phoenix. Representing Team Prague, Harris averaged 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists
per game while shooting a perfect 100% from the free-throw line, securing All-Eurobasket Summer League First Team honors.
Harris spent her final two collegiate seasons at Iowa State (2024–2026). In her last year with the Cyclones, she appeared in 32 games, averaging 6.3 points and 2.8 pg while shooting 37.1% from beyond the arc and 85.4% from the free-throw line.
Before transferring to Iowa State, Harris put together a highly efficient NCAA Division I career across multiple conferences. She played her freshman season (2022–2023) at Central Michigan University, where she was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and selected to the All-MAC Third Team. She then spent the 2023–2024 season with TCU before moving to Ames.
Scouting profiles highlight Harris as a highly confident, dynamic three-point threat who can stretch defenses. BC Barcelos will look to leverage her length, court vision, and ability to create her own shot in both transition and half-court offenses as she transitions to the professional ranks.
