The FC Bayern Frauen have been dealt another frustrating blow as Lena Oberdorf set to miss “the coming weeks” after suffering a reaction in her right knee per a release on FCBayern.com.
The club confirmed that an examination by the Bayern Munich medical unit revealed the issue, meaning Oberdorf will temporarily be sidelined just as she had begun to establish herself again following another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Unfortunately for the 24-year-old midfielder, injuries to her right knee have
become a painful part of her recent career. In 2024, Oberdorf suffered an ACL tear, along with an MCL injury, just before the Paris Olympics. After a long rehab, she returned to action with Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025.
However, her comeback was interrupted again in October 2025 when she tore the cruciate ligament in the same right knee against 1. FC Köln.
Obviously, this latest news is a real downer for Oberdorf, the Frauen, and fans.
This latest knee reaction is understandably concerning, even if there is no indication yet that she has suffered another major structural injury. Bayern Munich will hope this is simply a temporary setback and that Oberdorf can return safely rather than rush the process.
