The AP Poll is released at 1 p.m. on Sundays during the college football season and is a detriment to CFB society. The glaring issue with the poll is that it is flawed to ball watchers everywhere, the release time of updated rankings are the top piece of evidence in this claim. It is impossible for the voters to have enough time to fully digest the nearly 30 games from the weekend that must be taken into consideration. To save everyone from the inaccuracies of the AP Poll, I have very bravely taken it upon
myself to give you a more accurate take otherwise known as the Andrew Lotz Poll or AL Poll. I would love to hear your own thoughts in the comments below.
My credentials:
1) I watched either live or condensed game replays for every team that is ranked or has been removed. While I hope you comment with how wrong I am, my process is a definite step in the right direction that major polls should take into consideration.
2) I humbly can say that I am hardly wrong when it comes to these issues.
Holy War Reaches New Heights
Utah continued their undefeated start to the season by running away from the Bearcats in the 2nd quarter in Cincinnati. Cincy was coming off arguably the biggest win of the Scott Satterfield era vs Texas Tech and had proven to be no easy win. The Utes (-7.5 was a pick in the Boudin Bet Slip this week) dominated in what some would call a classic look ahead spot with BYU on the horizon. With some help from their old Pac12 friends, USC, Utah was able to move up to the number 2 spot in the poll that was vacated by Ohio St this week. The events of this week move Utah and BYU each into the top 6 as they head into the most anticipated matchup these bitter rivals have ever had since the schools began playing in 1895.
Demon Deacons Continue to Impress
Jake Dickert’s squad registered the biggest improvement in this week’s poll after they delivered yet another thumping to Virginia in Winston Salem this Saturday by a score of 51-7. The win moved Wake’s margin of victory over the last 4 games to 187-31, dominating to say the least and the type of resume that is deserving of top 10 recognition. The Demon Deacons have now positioned themselves for a rematch with Miami, the only blemish on their record, in the ACC Championship as long as Virginia Tech isn’t able to sneak in (which would require SMU to lose to both Va Tech and WF). As long as Gio Lopez (QB) can stay healthy, Wake has a good enough defense to give Miami a real test in a rematch.
USC Holds All the Keys in the Big10
USC has rejoined the Top 25 after being ousted earlier in the year as I saw right through the AP facade that claimed the Trojans were a top 12 team. On Saturday USC was finally able to string together 4 quarters of complimentary football as they convincingly beat the injury riddled Buckeyes in Los Angeles which marks their best win of the year and the key component of their AL Poll entry. The interesting piece of the Big10 puzzle is that due to injuries in Columbus and inconsistent quarterback play in Bloomington, USC now controls their own destiny as they still have the Hoosiers and rival UCLA still on their schedule. While I don’t think USC will be a serious threat in the playoff for a national championship, it is surely in the realm of possibility that USC goes 3-0 to finish the year and finds themselves in a rematch with Ohio St or UCLA in Indianapolis.
