The Washington Commanders training camp rolls on for Day 14 in Ashburn, VA.
Head coach Dan Quinn spoke to reporters before the start of today’s practice and provided updates on the growing list of injured players. CB Trey Amos suffered an ankle sprain when he returned to practice from last year’s broken fibula. The new ankle injury is on the same leg he had been rehabbing.
Projected starting center Nick Allegretti was also quickly sidelined after returning to practice. He suffered a calf strain on
the first day of camp, and felt some soreness during his return to the field. He won’t play against the Lions, leaving Julian Good-Jones and rookie Matt Gulbin to snap for whoever lines up under center on Saturday.
It was reported last night that DT Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton had surgery in New York for a torn pectoral and Quinn confirmed that he will miss time. So.e positive injury news was that RB Rachaad White’s hamstring injury isn’t serious, but he’s also not playing in Detroit this weekend.
Here’s more of what we heard from Quinn and Commanders players on Monday morning:
