When Harry Kane made the €100M move from his beloved Tottenham to Bayern Munich, the motive was clear: Win a title. Kane had reached a few finals but fell short, including a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the 2019 Champions League and a 2-1 loss to Spain in the 2024 EURO. In May 2025, Kane finally hoisted a trophy when Bayern secured the Bundesliga title.
With the monkey off his back, Kane is hungry for titles and knows the challenge ahead of him.
“I think this Champions League is going to be similar
to every year,” Kane told Marca (via @iMiaSanMia). We will be one of the favorites, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool… All the big teams will have their eyes on the trophy. There’s still a long way from now until that final. We’re looking forward to the draw at the end of the month to see who we’ll play in the league phase. Step by step, we’re trying to move in the right direction. We’re more focused on the Bundesliga now. We have a big game at the Allianz Arena to start the season on Friday night. We need to show what we showed [against Stuttgart] – the attitude and desire to go out there and be hungry to try to put ourselves in a good place in the league.”
Paris Saint-Germain is the betting favorite to repeat but that has not happened since Real Madrid’s unprecedneted run of four Champions League titles in five years from 2014-2018. Bayern will need to get Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies back to full strength and catch a few breaks to claim the club’s first Champions League title since 2020.
