Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka, will try to stay afloat in the 205-pound title chase when he battles fellow Top 10 contender, Khalil Rountree Jr., as part of the UFC 320 pay-per-view (PPV) main card on Sat. night (Oct. 4, 2025) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Prochazka (31-5-1) is hoping to kill two birds with one stone during his “War Horse” preparations, as Rountree Jr. shares a similar offensive look as current light heavyweight champion, Magomed Ankalaev. That said,
“BJP” might be a long way off from facing “Big Ank” (because of this surging contender).
“So the preparation is for Rountree Jr. and possibly Ankalaev,” Prochazka said on YouTube. “Apparently, he hasn’t been on the ground at all yet. Mainly, the preparation for Rountree Jr., who has a southpaw stance, is actually the same as for Ankalaev. Except that Ankalaev is just a little different stylistically. He’s more mobile and there’s a much greater threat of takedowns. Because from the beginning, since January after the fight with Hill, I’ve been preparing for a fight with Ankalaev, including overall strategy and tactics.”
Ankalaev will defend his division strap in the UFC 320 main event against former 205-pound kingpin, Alex Pereira, after taking the title from “Poatan” at UFC 313 back in March. A loss for “Big Ank” is probably the only way Prochazka will face the Russian bruiser after coming up short in two consecutive title fights.
Naturally, none of this matters if Rountree Jr. is able to defeat “BJP” and start his own march back toward the 205-pound crown. “War Horse” has faced criticism over the last few months for not being an “elite” fighter but can certainly silence the doubters with a strong performance at UFC 320.
