What to Watch For:
- San Jose State: The Spartans are hoping for a rebound season, but opening the year against the Trojans won’t be able to give a true indication of that. Look for how Luke Weaver does at QB and if any of the transfer WRs can emerge as the number one target in 2026. Also, if the SJSU defense can make some stops, that would bode well for the rest of the year.
- North Dakota State: The Bison make their much hyped FBS debut against a team that made a similar jump in 2024. It is worth watching how their size, athleticism, and depth compare to the other teams over the course of the season, but that probably won’t be on full display in this game. North Dakota State’s system and talent should allow them to win.
- Hawaii: The Rainbow Warriors kicked off last season with a win over Stanford and look to do the same this year. They scored huge victories in the offseason with Micah Alejado and Pofele Ashlock returning for the 2026 season and now look to do the same on the field. Hawaii can establish themselves as a conference contender with a P4 win to kick off the year.
- UNLV: The Rebels have an exciting Week 0 matchup against fellow top mid-major Memphis. This is a key game for their CFP resume, as the program has their sights set on their first Mountain West championship title. All eyes will be on the quarterback spot and whether or not they are able to reload in the transfer portal for 2026.
