Everton announced the loan signing of England international Jack Grealish and the addition of the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles late on transfer deadline day, just before all hell broke loose with the non-signing of striker Folarin Balogun.
The Manchester City player will join the Blues for the last year of his contract, with the goal of signing a three-year deal after that. Grealish will be turning 31 next month, and will be wearing the famed #10 shirt that he wore at both Aston Villa and then
at Manchester City after that. Last season he had worn the #18, but with Iliman Ndiaye going the opposite direction, the number ten was available.
Formerly of Arsenal, Maitland-Niles has chosen the classic right back’s #2 shirt that was made available with the departure of Nathan Patterson.
