Florida quarterback Aaron Philo is currently limited in practice due to a shoulder injury, according to a recent report in the Associated Press. The AP spoke to an anonymous source, who declined to share his identity due to Florida having so far declined to announce the status of Philo’s alleged shoulder injury.
In other words, Texas will potentially face Florida without its rising star of a signal-caller.
Philo has completed just more than 70 percent of his passes for 1,341 yards, including nine touchdowns
and three interceptions, at this point over his five games played during the 2026 college football season.
Evidence of Philo’s injury might have begun revealing itself during Florida’s 38-19 loss to South Carolina, in which the Gators’ quarterback completed exactly 75 percent of his 28 passes; through the air, he totaled 227 yards and one touchdown. He also ran a career-high 13 times last week, although Philo only managed to gain 32 yards and was sacked three times by a Gamecocks defense that’s been picked on by Alabama and other SEC programs earlier this season.
If Philo can’t suit up, second-year passer Tramell Jones Jr. is expected to start in his place.
