Ohio State is now 1-0 following a statement 14-7 victory over Texas on Saturday. The opening day victory was more impressive than the score may look, but Buckeye Nation and all of the recruits in attendance certainly walked away impressed. The results of the early marquee game created an electric atmosphere in Ohio Stadium, and it is safe to say it was a successful weekend for the Buckeyes on all fronts.
Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff played host to numerous recruits on Saturday, and one
of those recruits in attendance was 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges (Chattanooga, TN / Baylor School).
Gabriel Georges is Ohio State’s top target in the 2027 recruiting class, so getting him on campus for the game Saturday was a great way for the Buckeyes to make a lasting impression. Carlos Locklyn has been recruiting Gabriel Georges for a decent amount of time now, and the visit this weekend was his second time making it to Columbus. It should be safe to say Ohio State has to like where it sits in his recruitment thus far.
The Buckeyes are not alone in recruiting Gabriel Georges though, as he is one of the top backs in the class. Ohio State is competing with the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, USC, and many others.
Expect Ohio State to continue to make him a priority in their 2027 class, as the Buckeyes have yet to earn a commitment in the position in the cycle. If they are able to get him to make a return visit, Ohio State will immediately be viewed as one of his top teams.
Gabriel Georges is the No. 3 RB in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 34 national recruit. He is also the No. 1 recruit out of Tennessee.

Another recruit to visit with Ohio State for the victory over Texas was 2027 offensive tackle Brody McNeel (Richmond, VA / Godwin), who received an Ohio State offer over the summer.
Ohio State offered Gabriel in June of this year, and it didn’t take long for the blue-chip recruit to find his way to campus and he chose a great game. Any questions marks surrounding Ohio State’s offensive line entering the season should be safely put away, as the Buckeyes offensive line won in the trenches Saturday against one of the best defensive lines in all of college football. The showing should only help Ohio State’s chances.
The Buckeyes are not alone in their pursuit of McNeel as he has upcoming visits scheduled with Virginia Tech and Penn State. He also holds offers from Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina, Syracuse, West Virginia and others. His offer list will likely only grow as his season goes on.
Expect Ohio State to continue to recruit him as they are likely one of the leaders in his recruitment following the visit. If he makes a return visit before the end of the season, which he hinted to in his social media post, the Buckeyes will be tough to beat in this one.
