It was a tough day at the office for Germany as they succumbed to a first-ever defeat to Greece in 11 games. Joshua Kimmich, whose unfortunate deflection caught keeper Alexander Nübel cold on the goal, implied that Germany was outclassed and said his team didn’t do enough.
“It wasn’t a good performance by us,” Kimmich said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I thought we were unlucky to lose the game through a deflected shot — but overall, we were too static and weren’t creative enough. A 0-0
draw would’ve been a fair result, but the defeat is unlucky. We have to improve everywhere and understand the coach more. The coach is very clear in what he wants from us, it’s up to us players to step up.”
It’s not the result that Jürgen Klopp would’ve wanted, but that means his evaluation of Team 1 is finished. Germany plays Serbia and Greece (away) next weekend.
