We’re three days into November, and the Yankees have made their first major roster decision of the offseason by issuing a qualifying offer to David Bednar… while declining to do the same for Jazz Chisholm Jr. It was expected, but it’s still a bit sad to see what is likely the end of Chisholm’s time in New York as he’ll become a free agent with no draft pick compensation attached to his case — in a relatively weak free agent class, that should draw him some decent attention even if his 2026 left a lot
to be desired.
We’ve got plenty in store for you to start your day, beginning with Josh opining on the Yankees’ decision to not shake things up with Aaron Boone’s coaching staff despite a well-known underperformance offensively across the board. Matt hands out a grade to Jose Caballero for his 2026 season, Jonathan remembers Paul Quantrill’s time as a Yankee on his birthday, Estevao discusses the decision to not extend the QO to Jazz and why he thinks it’s the correct move, and Nick has a primer on the Hall of Fame Era Committee vote with some heavyweight names on the ballot.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Did the Yankees make the right call in not offering Jazz the qualifying offer?
2. Now that we know Cam Schlittler didn’t make the top three in MVP voting, where do you think he’ll ultimately end up finishing?
