What is the story about?
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Green Bay Packers’ flight to Phoenix was delayed for nearly six hours on Saturday, which is not exactly what you want to hear when running back Josh Jacobs and cornerback Keisean Nixon are listed as questionable for the game with illnesses
. Hopefully, whatever issue those two have won’t spread around the locker room before kickoff against the Arizona Cardinals. As Demovsky tells it, this was the situation.
- The Packers’ staff plane left at 1:15 pm CT today.
- A separate plane, with the players and coaches, was set to fly at 1:30 pm CT.
- The second flight, due to mechanical issues, still wasn’t ready to take off around 7 pm CT.
- The Packers eventually chose to change planes for that players’ and coaches’ flight, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
So there’s your little curveball for Week 7. If the mystery
illness didn’t spread and this didn’t impact the team’s walkthrough plans or rehab and recovery plans, though, it’s no harm, no foul. We probably won’t know how much this scheduling delay derailed the prep for this game until head coach Matt LaFleur talks to the press after the game, though.
