No. 7 Florida State (3-0) logged a second-straight 700-plus yard game, blowing out the Kent State Golden Flashes 66-10 on Saturday.
Outside of a first-quarter blown coverage for a Kent State touchdown and a Tommy Castellanos interception, it was as routine a performance as you could ask from the Seminoles. The Seminoles dominated the Golden Flashes on the ground, racking up a program-record 498 yards and averaging 9.2 yards per carry.
Florida State put up 35 points in the first quarter, taking its
foot off the gas a bit following a weather delay and the departure of Castellanos from the game — the quarterback got rolled up on in the closing minutes of the second quarter, ending his day early even on a day where he wasn’t likely to see the second half.
Micahi Danzy, following in the footsteps of Duce Robinson last game, put up ridiculous stats in the first quarter — 174 all-purpose yards (112 receiving on 2 catches, 64 on 1 rush).
Kevin Sperry, Brock Glenn and Jaylen King all led scoring drives as the Seminoles recorded a school-record eight rushing touchdowns.
The Seminoles return to action next Friday against Virginia, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. for the Seminoles’ first road and conference game of the season.
