At this point anyone who didn’t get injured is in the running for star of the month as the Colorado Eagles lineup has been a revolving door all while enduring an intensive road-heavy schedule.
For the month of March they played in 13 games with just four at home going 7-3-3. For the season Colorado is 38-16-10 good for 86 points and second in the Pacific division, just one point back of the leading Ontario Reign. The month of April sets up with a furious finish to close out the regular season, four games at home and four on the road
including one pivotal match with Ontario.
First Star – Alex Barre-Boulet – 62 GP: 22G, 42A, 66P
Every year there’s a veteran who carries the superstar torch for the team and this season it’s Alex Barre-Boulet who leads the Eagles in scoring with 66 points in 62 games, which is also good for second in the AHL. He’s the team’s best power play producer with nine goals as well. This last month is no exception as Barre-Boulet also paced the team with 13 points including seven goals in 12 games played.
Second Star – Taylor Makar – 48 GP: 14G, 9A, 23P
After returning from a minor injury which kept Taylor Makar out of the lineup for a couple weeks, his game has been on fire, scoring a goal in four straight games at one point. To cap off the month of March, the younger Makar was the hero scoring both goals in a tightly contested 2-1 win including the late third period deciding tally. That’s six goals and nine total points in just seven games played.
Third Star – Tristen Nielsen – 60 GP: 24G, 18A, 42P
Another Eagles veteran who had a consistent month was Tristen Nielsen who in 13 March games scored 11 points with six goals. He is fifth in team scoring with 42 points and a mainstay on the power play tied at second with seven goals scored.
