Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany always keep his cards close to his vest, but when it comes to Manchester City, the former Citizens defender cannot hide that he has an affinity for the club.
When it came down to who he would rather face — Real Madrid or Manchester City — Kompany did not have a preference.
He swears.
Seriously.
“I always try to separate things. I always wish the best for Man City, it’s normal. I always want them to win anytime it’s nothing to do with me. In this case I wasn’t
thinking a lot about who we’re going to face. I was only thinking about Atalanta and reaching the next round. Now it’s Real Madrid. It’s a fantastic fixture for the club, the players and the fans,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Real Madrid will, indeed, present a challenge for the Bavarians, but this should be the most highly-anticipated UCL quarterfinals tie in quite some time.
And no, Kompany would likely never answer that question…not in a million years.
