Junior midfielder Breezie Brewer, a transfer from Alabama, scored her first goal as a Cyclone in a 1-1 draw with Utah Thursday night at the Cyclones Sports Complex. Both Iowa State and Utah now have a 4-5-3 record. In Big 12 play, the Cyclones are 0-3-1 and the Utes are 1-2-1.
Shannon Davidson got an early goal for the visitors – 15 minutes and 16 seconds into the match – slotting it in the top left of goal off her right foot, primary assist to Sophie Bellini and secondary assist to Reese Clem.
Utah
out shot Iowa State in the first half, 8-3, and had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Four minutes and 24 seconds into the second half, Breezie Brewer got ISU on the board with a low, bouncing, ball off a free kick which found its way into the bottom left of the net behind Ute goalkeeper Anna Solomon.
After 90 minutes, Eme McClenahan recorded three saves against her former team. Utah out shot Iowa State 19-8.
The Cyclones head southwest for a pair of conference matches, against Arizona State on Oct. 8 and Arizona on Oct. 11.
