Tony Pauline is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers are targeting Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley. The Titans should be working around the clock to make something happen with Ridley. He
is their best receiver and one of the few weapons that they actually have, but this team isn’t going to be competitive until 2027. Ridley probably won’t be a number one caliber receiver then. They should get what they can for him now.
One potential hangup here is that Ridley isn’t healthy currently. He hurt his hamstring in the game two weeks ago and hasn’t practiced since. There are still two weeks before the NFL trade deadline, so hopefully Ridley can get healthy before then.
The article also mentions that the Steelers are targeting wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. Waddle is younger, so it will probably cost more to get him in a trade than Ridley.
There are a few teams that are rumored to be looking for a wide receiver. Hopefully, Mike Borgonzi can do a little negotiating to not only move Ridley but also maximize his value.
The Titans have Ridley under contract through the 2028 season. There is a potential out in the contract after this season that I would expect the Titans to take if they aren’t able to find a trade partner.
