On Wednesday, UConn’s Azzi Fudd was named the 2025-26 Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She will receive a $2,000 stipend towards graduate or professional studies.
Fudd is currently getting her master’s degree in business administration after receiving her bachelor’s degree in communications. She landed on the Big East All-Academic Team four times and the Director of Athletics’ Honor Roll on eight occasions. Across her academic career, Fudd has earned a 3.570 grade-point average.
On the court,
Fudd is in the midst of her best season. She’s putting up 17.9 points with a .490/.451/.950 shooting split to go with 2.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals — all of which are career-bests. Nationally, Fudd ranks second in 3-pointers made (96) and ninth in 3-point percentage (45.1). She’s a finalist for the AAU Sullivan Award and on watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Wooden Award and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award.
Off the court, Fudd hosts the Azzi Fudd Hooping for a Cure Basketball Camp, which raises money for the Pat Summitt Foundation and the Abby Zittoun Family Foundation. She’s also volunteered at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Geno’s Fore The Kids Charity Dinner and Golf Tournament, and Connecticut Children’s Hospital.
Fudd is the ninth Husky to win Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year, joining Leigh Curl (1984-85), Wendy Davis (1991-92), Rebecca Lobo (1993-95), Jennifer Rizzotti (1995-96), Maya Moore (2009-11), Paige Bueckers (2023-24) and Azzi Fudd (2025-26).
