Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has been talking about Lamine Yamal’s game time with the national team ahead of friendlies against Serbia and Egypt.
Yamal did a light session away from the group at the start of the week after arriving from Barcelona, prompting suggestions he could be used sparingly over the international break.
However, De la Fuente says he wants to win both games and hinted at playing a strong team.
“We are always sensitive and we always prioritize the health of the player,” he told a press
conference.
“But we have a great responsibility in our hands, recognition and prestige to maintain. We are representing the Spanish National Team and the best have to play at all times.
“We will protect Lamine as we protect the remaining 26 players in this call-up. To me, they’re all exactly the same. We will give each one the necessary minutes. And of course, always taking into account the reading of the match. We want to win both games.”
We’ll have to see what happens but that doesn’t sound like Yamal is going to get much rest over the next week or so. Spain take on Serbia first on Friday night and then play Egypt on Tuesday.
