Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has had a rough time in attempting to return from the devastating injury he sustained at the Club World Cup last summer when he collided with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Musiala suffered a massive injury with a fractured fibula (lower leg bone) and a dislocated ankle. The Germany international likely came back to training too early in December and has since struggled both mentally and physically in attempting to get back to his old self.
That journey is far from over.
Given
that, former Bayern Munich goalkeeper and CEO Oliver Kahn thinks Musiala should skip the World Cup to get himself fully healed and ready for the 2026/27 campaign.
“He should forgo participating in the World Cup. If I feel that something is wrong with my game, then I have to work on myself to be ready again,” Kahn told Sky Germany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It might not be Kahn’s place to say it, but he is not wrong in his sentiment. The road to recovery has been tough on Musiala and there is a chance that he never gets back to what he was before the injury. Surely, to give himself the best chance to find that health and form, a measured approach and patience will be required.
