The Michigan Wolverines are 22-1 and rank No. 2 in the AP Top 25 and No. 2 in the ESPN BPI (Basketball Power Index). Michigan head coach Dusty May’s second season in Ann Arbor has featured many blowouts and consistent domination
Michigan was 27-10 last season, but got hot down the stretch. finishing second in the conference. Michigan won its first Big Ten Tournament title since 2018 and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen as a No. 5 seed, ultimately losing to No. 1 seed Auburn. With Michigan better than they were a season ago, a reasonable expectation should be advancing further and reaching the Elite Eight or better. Michigan’s only loss this season was 91-88 against Wisconsin, but have fared well against top competition and inferior teams in all other contests.
Michigan has some big matchups the remainder of the regular season incluing No. 13 Purdue, No. 4 Duke and No. 10 Michigan State — and how they do in these contests could be a glimpse into how far they can advance in the NCAA Tournament.
