The Cubs front office has put a premium on controllable starting pitching. And now they’ve got their guy:
Reid Detmers is 27 and has two years of team control after this year. He’ll make the Cubs rotation a bit more left-handed, adding to Matthew Boyd and Shōta Imanaga. This is one move I really wanted the Cubs to make, and now they have.
We do not yet have the return to the Angels in this deal
— I have seen some reports online but nothing from any of the Cubs beat writers or from a national writer so I’ll wait for that when it comes.
Depending on the return this would seem to be a good deal for the Cubs, especially with two more years of team control after 2026. I wrote a lot about Detmers last week and you can read more about him here.
Have at it; this post will be updated when we know the return.
