Bayern Munich midfielder Tom Bischof is expected to have more of an opportunity to actually play in the central midfield next season, but he could have competition from a familiar face — Hannover 96 defensive midfielder Noël Aséko Nkili.
The Bavarians have reportedly exercised a buyback clause on Nkili and the 20-year-old is expected to compete for a role on the squad next season. For Bischof, it will be a chance to welcome an old pal.
“Aséko is a fantastic guy whom I’ve known for a long time through
the national team. I’m delighted that a good friend is coming to Munich. Aséko has developed tremendously and has made big steps at Hannover. He plays a bit more offensively now and does it very well. He has the qualities to play for Bayern,” Bischof told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked if he would help Nkili find an apartment in Munich, Bischof went one step further.
“He’s welcome to stay with me two or three days a week,” Bischof said with a laugh. “Why not more? I think my mother, who’s often at my place too, would object. She wouldn’t be entirely happy about that. But I do have a bed for him.”
