I learned some new rules yesterday. I learned that if lightning strikes within 15 miles of Sanford Stadium, they will allow you to leave the stadium to seek shelter (even opening the Tate Center and one other building) and return – this is a marked change from the usual rule – if you leave the gates, you don’t get back in.
I also learned that if the lightning strikes within 8 miles, play is suspended, and they urge you to seek shelter. (I still didn’t. The wind was wonderful & cool, and I hate those
concrete steps going down).

BUT…..if the lightning strikes within ONE mile….well, then they tell you you HAVE to leave the seats. They didn’t make me go any further than just inside the entrance tunnel, so that’s where I waited out the storm with this week’s plus-one, my next door neighbor (also a good friend). In conversation with fellow Dawgs, it was obvious that we are very concerned with our offensive unit as a whole, Stockton as our QB1 and our O-line. There was much of the Fire Bobo response (that hearkens back to the CMR days) but, as a whole, we all agreed that we didn’t want to be responsible for the offensive production of college aged players.
However, it is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog Football wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness or beauty of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.
Coach Kirby Smart coached his 126th game this week for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 107-19 record and a 0.8492 winning percentage, having carded his one hundred seventh win overall in the second game of the 2025 season against the Governors of Austin Peay.
At the identical juncture in their careers:
Vince Dooley’s 126th game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs win over the Sackerlina Chickens in the third game of the 1975 season, giving Coach Dooley a record of 84-38-5 and 0.6865 percentage.
Coach Mark Richt was 95-31 (0.7540) after a loss to Arkansas in the second game of the 2010 season.
One hundred and twenty six games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is twelve games ahead of Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 23 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.
As always . . .
Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
