Kentucky Football’s offseason roster turnover continued this week with two more scholarship players entering the NCAA transfer portal, as running back Jamarion Wilcox and safety Cam Dooley both announced
their departures from the program, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Wilcox, a redshirt sophomore running back, leaves Lexington after not appearing during the 2025 season due to off-the-field legal issues. In 2024, Wilcox led Kentucky in rushing with 590 yards on 92 carries, averaging 6.6 yards per attempt while starting four games. He posted back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances against Tennessee and Murray State and finished the season with two rushing touchdowns.
A former 4-star recruit from Georgia, Wilcox was once viewed as a potential long-term piece in the Wildcats’ backfield before his absence in 2025 created uncertainty about his future with the program.
Dooley, a true sophomore safety, also entered the portal after two seasons at Kentucky. The Alabama native played in all 12 games as a true freshman, primarily on special teams, before emerging as part of the defensive rotation in 2025.
Dooley logged 413 defensive snaps with three starts, recording 32 tackles and an interception. He showed encouraging development late in the season after stepping into a larger role following a season-ending injury to Jordan Lovett, earning solid coverage grades and displaying versatility at free safety, in the box, and in the slot.
The departures add to mounting roster concerns for Kentucky. Running back and safety were already positions of need entering the transfer window, and the losses of Wilcox and Dooley increase the urgency for reinforcements as the Wildcats continue reshaping the roster under a new staff.
