Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Mailbag: What Eagles players aside from A.J. Brown and Tanner McKee are trade bait? – PhillyVoice Question from @Sassysachin: Apart from A.J. Brown, which current Eagles could be part of a potential trade? How about if we amend the above question to, “Apart from A.J. Brown and Tanner McKee, which current Eagles could be part of a potential trade?” Cool? Cool. Previously we had Sydney Brown as a trade candidate, and, well, he got traded. Boom. I’ll
name three players who make some level of sense to be dealt. Of course, none of the guys are going to merit a big return. CB Kelee Ringo: A couple of former big Eagles corners in Rasul Douglas and Josh Jobe went on to have success with other teams. Perhaps a scheme that better hides Ringo’s limitations would be a better fit? He’s big and fast and he’s at least a good gunner on the punt coverage team. He’ll be on NFL rosters for years, even if he never becomes a good corner.
NFL schedules 2026 NFL schedule release date – BGN
The wait is nearly over: the 2026 NFL schedule will be revealed on the evening of Thursday, May 14. This much according to an official announcement made by the league on Friday afternoon. We’ve already known the Eagles’ home and away opponents for the upcoming season but now we’ll learn more about the specific dates, times, nationally televised games, travel, etc.
Depth Pieces – Iggles Blitz
Elijah Moore joined the team back in March to be part of the WR mix. The Eagles then added Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon, giving Moore a real uphill battle. The team would love to find a way to keep homegrown players like Johnny Wilson and Darius Cooper. There will be some real battles for roster spots at WR. I don’t feel like that has legitimately been the case for a while. Moore disappeared last year, only catching 9 passes for Buffalo. He averaged 50 catches per season in the four previous years so he has been productive, and that was playing with the Jets and Browns. Not exactly a lot of star QBs throwing him the ball. Moore is a good fit for the new offense. He is good in the slot. He can work the middle of the field and has good RAC ability. If someone gets hurt, he can step in and contribute. Moore is an ideal candidate for the practice squad.
How tragedy, near-music stardom and his beloved hometown helped shape new Eagle Jonathan Greenard – Inquirer
Jonathan Greenard stood in the corridor of the Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta, greeting every guest with a grin and a hug as he tried to fight back tears. You wouldn’t know it by looking at him, but Greenard’s whole world had shattered just four days before. It was March 28, 2014, and a 16-year-old Greenard was grieving the loss of his father Mack Jr., 51, who had just died of congestive heart failure. Those closest to Jonathan still remember the selflessness and composure the high school sophomore showed that stormy morning. “I mean, he was a young kid, this is the worst day of his life and yet he’s still going around, thanking everybody for coming, making sure his mom is OK,” said Stan Halbrooks, Greenard’s defensive line coach at Hiram High School. “It sounds cliche, but that’s just who Jon is.”
NFL projection model ranks all 32 rosters following 2026 draft: Are Rams team to beat? – The Athletic
5) Philadelphia Eagles. I need to add a disclaimer to this projection, as it currently factors in wide receiver A.J. Brown. At the time of publication, he is still with the Eagles, despite persistent rumors he’ll be traded to the New England Patriots after June 1. If that happens, the Eagles will drop to around plus-2.2 (and closer to league average). Despite an aging roster, the Eagles boast a top-five offensive tackle pair, a top-10 interior offensive line, a top-10 defensive line and one of the league’s best cornerbacks rooms. If their quarterback play hadn’t fallen off last season, they would’ve had a great chance to be ranked at the top of the league for the second straight year.
Steelers sign former Patriots tight end – Behind The Steel Curtain
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed tight end Jaheim Bell to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday. Bell was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of South Carolina by the New England Patriots. He caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown in three appearances as a rookie. He spent 2025 on the Philadelphia Eagles and Steelers practice squads. He signed a futures deal with the Eagles in January before being waived in late April.
Why the ‘Caleb Downs positional value’ argument may be a myth – Blogging The Boys
The position value issue remains. But positional value is far from being a definitive measurement on value when it comes to position, even if it makes for interesting debates. In 2021, Pro Football Focus put together an intriguing study measuring positional value primarily focusing on the NFL draft. They combined a handful of metrics, starting with their Wins Above Replacement (WAR) metric, and found that when looking at the top 32 players at each position sorted by 2020 WAR, safety landed third-highest on the list behind QB and CB. This of course runs counter to many of the strongly held beliefs in the NFL community. But in a day and age where defenses feature increasingly more nickel, dime, and occasionally even dollar packages as opposed to the traditional two-safety looks of past eras, teams now call upon safeties to be more versatile. […] The value of good safety play has definitely increased over the last few years; maybe their contract value just hasn’t caught up yet.
The 5 O’Clock Club: How would you describe the Commanders fanbase? – Hogs Haven
I’m continuing an experiment that began yesterday; today, I asked Google’s AI large language model 4 questions about the Commanders fanbase & the how it compares to fans of other NFC East teams, and pasted both my questions and the answers in the article below. I realize it’s a bit lengthy since it comprises 4 sections. My apologies for that. I invite you, in the comments, to either provide your own answers to the questions, or offer your critique of the AI answer (or both!). Also, let me know in the comments whether or not you think this is interesting enough to continue with in the future (don’t worry; I won’t do it every day).
What can we expect from the Giants’ Day 1 and 2 draft picks as rookies? – Big Blue View
The big difference between Arvell Reese and these other players is how young and inexperienced he is, having played only 960 college snaps (as opposed to 1,225 for Parsons and 1,836 for Carter). Walker’s 984 college snaps are more comparable. Walker had a good rookie season but not an outstanding one, with 5.5 sacks but only 29 total pressures. Carter finished with four sacks but 66 total pressures. Only Parsons (13.0 sacks) really made his mark as a pass rusher as a rookie. We know that the Giants are going to line Reese up all over. We don’t know how the positional snaps are going to be divided up and how often Dennard Wilson is going to have Reese rush the passer, a skill that he is still developing (although he did have 6.5 sacks this past season). Don’t be surprised if David Bailey, taken No. 2 by the Jets, makes a bigger splash as a rookie. Bailey was basically edge-only during his four-year college career and exploded with 14.5 sacks last season. Furthermore, the Giants have depth at edge defender (for now, anyway) and not as much at linebacker. Reese’s impact may be seen more in his run defense and coverage (the latter another skill he’ll need to develop) than in his pass rush this coming season. He’s very young (20). Give him time.
Giants and Jets are offseason winners: Three reasons each downtrodden New York team is on the rise – NFL.com
3) Jaxson Dart’s continued growth. On the Move The Sticks podcast, we frequently discuss the impact of the “3 Ps” (play-caller, playmakers and protectors) on the growth of young quarterbacks. The supporting cast around the signal-caller plays a significant role in his development, so teams must surround their QB1s with enough talent in each of those areas to get premium production from the pocket. The Giants have upgraded the personnel around Dart to allow the second-year pro to take another step forward in his development as a franchise quarterback. New offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has experience tutoring young quarterbacks, showing an ability to tailor game plans to their strengths while simultaneously maximizing his top offensive weapons. The former head coach guided the Chicago Bears to a division title in his first season on the job with a second-year quarterback in Mitchell Trubisky. Moreover, Nagy’s experience with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City should help him teach Dart how to play winning football in New York. From managing the game to understanding when to jump into playmaking mode, the soon-to-be 23-year-old will benefit from having a quarterback guru with a championship pedigree as his play-caller.
