Starting the season with a big game on the road is nothing new to this Notre Dame Football program. When Marcus Freeman was asked about this type of situation being “routine” at Notre Dame, he didn’t shy away from the comment and expressed how a game like this increases motivation and provides focus.
“I remember talking about this last year: you’re guaranteed 12, and to overlook any opponent is a disservice to the game of football. Our players know that. But when you have a huge matchup on a Sunday
night vs. a great opponent, I think it raises the anticipation. There’s no lack of motivation—I hope there never is but especially when you’re going to play Miami, on the road. Our guys are extremely driven, focused, motivated. Hopefully, you have some really good practices leading up to that game.”
We saw the same type of thing last year when the Irish went on the road to start the season against Texas A&M in College Station, and Notre Dame went back to South Bend with a big win.
They’ll be looking to do the same on Sunday night as they take on the Miami Hurricanes in Hard Rock Stadium.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Notre Dame is a 2.5 point favorite over Miami with an over/under of 49.5.
