Get to Know Auburn:
- Location: Auburn, AL
- Established: 1856
- Enrollment: 34,195
- Mascot: Tigers
- Colors: Burnt orange and navy blue
- Conference: SEC
What You Need to Know:
- Texas A&M is 3-0 (0-0) and ranked No. 10 in the country. The Aggies were on bye last week after notching a 41-40 win over Notre Dame in South Bend in Week 3.
- Auburn is 3-1 (0-1) after dropping their SEC opener to Oklahoma in Norman in a game that involved no questionable officiating whatsoever.
- It’s still a bit early to have meaningful stats, but Auburn enters this game ranked No. 41 in scoring offense and No. 30 in scoring defense nationally. The Aggies are much more mercurial, ranking No. 23 in offense but No. 103 on defense (giving up 40 points in one of your three games will do that).
Betting Lines:
- The Aggies opened as a 7.5-point favorite
- The over/under is 53.5.
Historical Notes:
- Texas A&M leads the all time series 8-7, but Auburn holds a 7-6 edge since the Aggies joined the SEC after A&M suffered a demoralizing four-overtime loss at Jordan Hare Stadium last season.
- Famous Auburn alumni include athletes Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley, Cam Newton and Frank Thomas, actor Octavia Spencer, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, singer Lionel Richie, US Senator Tommy Tuberville, world class yeller Will Muschamp and the greatest player in NFL history, Al Del Greco.
What To Watch For:
- Rat Poison: The Ags have heard a lot of good things said about them in the nine days since their last game. Let’s hope they chose not to buy into their own hype and keep the underdog mentality that has served them well up to this point.
- Jackson Arnold’s pocket presence: Oklahoma unleashed an absolute assault on Arnold, who seemed to struggle to see the field, held onto the ball too long and ended up getting sacked an OU-record 10 times. If A&M can come even close to replicating that recipe, you have to like their chances, but containing Coleman and Singleton on the outside will be no small task.
- 4-0? If the Aggies can pull this one out, it will mark the first time since 2016 that they have started 4-0 (don’t look up how that season ended).
