The ACC preseason poll was released on Tuesday and Duke was ranked #1. Not surprisingly, Louisville was #2. UNC and NC State are at #3 and #4 respectively. Duke women are also ranked #1.
Miami is at #8 in Jai Lucas’s debut season while Jeff Capel and Pitt are #14.
Here’s an interesting factoid: five of the top eight teams are coached by first or second year coaches. That’s kind of crazy.
It’s always tough to predict how a race will play out but our guess is that the competition between the teams ranked
between #7 and #13 will be very intense because most of those teams are capable of rising if things go right.
Obviously some of them may drop as well. Still, our guess is that games between, say, #8 Miami and #11 Wake Forest or between #7 Clemson and #9 Miami are going to be really intense.
