Boston Legacy FC have continued to set the tone of their club by emphasizing their player-first approach. Yesterday, they’ve announced the establishment of its Athlete Advisory Board led by powerful sports icons and leaders: Sam Mewis Aliyah Boston, Kristine Lilly, and Allison Feaster, alongside Boston Legacy FC’s Jennifer Epstein and Domè Guasch.
In order to elevate the overall play experience, the Athlete Advisory Board will ensure the club remains aligned with the experiences and needs of athletes,
both on and off the field.
“This accomplished group brings unparalleled insight from the highest levels of professional sports and will play a key role in ensuring that athlete voices guide decisions across the club,” said Jennifer Epstein, Controlling Manager of Boston Legacy FC. “The inaugural season in 2026 will mark the launch of a best-in-class, player-first organization, committed to excellence.”
“Building a healthy, high-performance culture starts with listening to the athletes who’ve played the game, whether it’s on the pitch, or the court, and using their insights to drive excellence” said Domè Guasch, General Manager of Boston Legacy FC. “At Boston Legacy FC, we are taking these steps to build a club that helps players thrive on and off the pitch, and that players look forward to being a part of.”
“Growing up playing soccer in the Boston area, so much of my soccer career was shaped by the people and organizations in Massachusetts. I’m looking forward to supporting my hometown club, and helping BLFC set the standard for player care by sharing my experience and insight,” said Sam Mewis, World Cup champion and Editor in Chief of The Women’s Game.
“I hope to provide a perspective from my experience playing at the highest level on the international stage and being a retired professional athlete. I know what it feels like to be a professional athlete in Boston and what a great fan base we have here. It is a great place to play, and I want all future soccer players to feel that,” said Kristine Lilly, former USWNT and Boston Breakers player, and most-capped soccer player of all time.
“Boston Legacy is more than just a football club—it’s about community, pride, and creating something lasting for the city. I believe in what this club stands for and I want to be part of the foundation that guides its future,” said Aliyah Boston, WNBA All-Star for the Indiana Fever.
“Creating an avenue for input from a diverse set of proven champions, each with real ties to the city of Boston, is an important statement: the Boston Legacy FC athlete experience, on and off the field, matters,” said Allison Feaster, retired WNBA player and Vice President, Team Operations & Organizational Growth at the Boston Celtics. “As a 17-year professional athlete who’s made a successful transition from the court to the 18-time World Champion Boston Celtics, I have a unique perspective. The goal for me is to contribute in such a way that we ensure this organization is the standard in women’s professional soccer.”
The new expansion side is set to begin play in 2026, but they are already prepared to stand by and become a first-class destination for their players.
“The club remains deeply committed to empowering athletes and setting a new benchmark for long-term player development in women’s professional soccer.”
Could this be a trend for NWSL teams moving forward?
