It’s no surprise that when an NFL offense scores 59 points, one of its players is going to get some notice for their performance.
While Caleb Williams received a lot of the headlines for his game that accounted for over 300 yards of offense and four touchdowns, it was his backfield mate, D’Andre Swift, who was honored.
Swift was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for week one for his standout performance.
Swift gained 124 yards on 18 carries and also found the end zone 3 times during the Bears’ 59-37 rout of the Carolina Panthers.
The ground game as a whole was unstoppable. The Chicago Bears tallied 291 yards on the ground with six rushing touchdowns. The Bears did it on 39 carries, giving them a remarkable 7.5 yards per carry.
Kyle Monangai finished with 100 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown; Caleb Williams had 10 carries as well, tallying 65 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Ben Johnson’s high-flying offense comes home in week two, when they welcome in the Minnesota Vikings and Brian Flores’ defense, which is always a formidable challenge.
