Since 2023, Arijon Ibrahimović has bounced from club to club. Having spent many years in Bayern Munich’s academy, he decided to go to Italy and Salernitana to make his next step. After the Italian club got relegated and refused to use the attached buy option, he returned to Munich and signed a professional contract, becoming a part of the senior team. Just six months later, though, Ibrahimović had seen nearly no game time and was loaned out again to the Serie A, this time to SS Lazio. He played even
less for I Biancocelesti than he did for Bayern.
Finally, he went on a third loan to FC Heidenheim, where he did finally find success. But a permanent stay always seemed unlikely, particularly after they were relegated to the 2. Bundesliga.
After so many temporary stops and lost years, Ibrahimović understandably desires to find a club to stay at for a longer period of time. That makes a reported loan approach from Werder Bremen, as reporter by Bild (and captured by @iMiaSanMia), seem unsuitable:
Werder Bremen are interested in signing Arijon Ibrahimović – however, a deal is difficult. Werder cannot afford a permanent transfer. As for a loan deal, the player would have to extend his Bayern contract, as it expires next year [2027]. Ibrahimović wants a permanent contract with a club and to finally settle down. Despite the difficult circumstances, Bremen remain interested in a potential deal.
BFW Analysis
Werder Bremen is a difficult place to thrive at. Despite the heights the club has risen to in the past, Werder Bremen were not only recently relegated but nearly did so again in 2026, finishing just 15th. It represents a major downgrade from the 8th place finish they managed in 2025.
Not only are their sporting performances poor, but their work on the transfer market is even worse. Sporting director Clemens Fritz is completely out of his depth, highlighted by the sack worthy incident of forgetting how many loan players the club is allowed to have. He loaned in six players and believed he had hit the limit. The sporting director of a Bundesliga club had to then be corrected on this matter by Transfermarkt journalists, who explained that clubs are allowed six loans within the Bundesliga and six from outside of it, adding up to 12 in total. It is a nightmare.
All of this is to say that Werder Bremen may not be the best destination for a player who is looking a stable long term home.
