A system that had worked so well for years was gone and fans, like my parents, were left in the lurch. My family made the difficult decision, in part, not to renew our season tickets because there was no longer an easy way for my elderly parents to get to games. The hassles of parking, walking, and the damn goose poop were enough to convince them that watching on the couch was easier than the hassles of entering and exiting the stadium… and it was cheaper.
When I wrote that in November of 2025, I as
hopeful that rumors of bus service returning were true. Last week, news emerged that RTD’s board voted 9-5 to bring the service back.
While I would like to say (again) that it never should have been discontinued in the first place, it’s nice to see that RTD has returned to their senses. Although, it does make you wonder why 5 board members would vote not to expand ridership by thousands of people every year. Isn’t that the point?
According to this article, attempts will be made to resurrect the program in time for this year.
For now, RTD will go forward with reinstating BroncosRide. Timelines are still being hammered out, and a July meeting should shed further light on plans to potentially get service up and running for the Broncos’ first home preseason matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 21.
There was nothing like boarding a bus full of Broncos fans in your neighborhood and having it whisk you off to the game without the hassles of parking, traffic, or walking miles from whichever lot was lucky enough to gouge you for the afternoon. When the game was over, the stadium vibe extended into the bus on the way home. Rowdy chants and the KOA pregrame over the bus speakers was an experience unto itself. No hassles. No stress. Just front door service to the stadium. Couldn’t ask for more.
I’m really happy the service is returning. It was a central part of my Broncos fandom going to games with my parents over the years. While those season tickets are long gone, it’s comforting to know that fans have an option as they age. Another option to get to the stadium and back will again be an option over predatory parking lots and long hikes into the stadium. This is good for fans and great for Broncos Country!
