Barcelona’s injury problems show no signs of easing with fresh reports claiming Pedri picked up a problem during El Clasico.
The midfielder was sent off late in the game, earning an automatic one-match
ban, meaning he won’t be available to play at the weekend against Elche.
He’s been spotted training in the gym on Wednesday, rather than out on the grass with his team-mates, and RAC1 report it’s due to a muscular problem.
The report adds Pedri was “physically exhausted” at the end of the Clasico and has now been diaganosed with a muscular problem.
Reporter Adria Albets adds Pedri will miss around “4-5 weeks” which means he will not play against Club Brugge in midweek in the Champions League or go to Celta Vigo four days later.
La Liga then pauses for an international break, and the expectation is that Pedri won’t be called up by Spain, and will hopefully return when domestic football resumes.
The news is another hammer blow to Barca, given Pedri’s importance to the team, and means the club’s injury crisis shows no sign of abating.
