Florida State baseball, facing off against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, suffered a major blow to its season as Myles Bailey went down with a significant ankle injury in the bottom of the eighth inning.
With the game tied at 11 and the Seminoles threatening, the Blue Devils intentionally walked Bailey. Duke’s Caleb Anderson attempted to pick off Bailey but threw wide of the bag. As Bailey went into second, his ankle was caught up in the slide.
The injury was severe enough that it required an air cast and a stretcher to get the sophomore off the diamond.
Bailey had hit his 13th home run of the season earlier in the matchup after being walked twice, logging four total runs for the Seminoles on Saturday. On the season, he’s batting .363 with 29 hits and 33 RBI.
